Foods to Avoid for Health Teeth

Most people think that they can eat whatever they want as long as they brush and floss. While flossing and brushing are important, so is the kinds of foods you eat. Many foods can cause serious plaque buildup that can greatly harm your teeth, not matter how much you take care of them. So, if you want to have the best pearly whites here are a few foods to avoid:

  • Sour Candies. These are full of sugar, and we all know that sugar is not good for our teeth and can lead to cavities. Also, they stick to your teeth, which can cause decay.
  • Bread. Combined with the saliva from our mouths, starches from bread break down and cause a sticky mess that is bad for our teeth and gets caught in the crevices.
  • Coffee. Remember your elementary teacher with the bad coffee breath and terrible teeth? Well, those two things go hand in hand. Stay away from coffee to keep your teeth white.
  • Ice. It’s only water, how can it be bad for you? Chewing on hard substances, like ice, can break down enamel and lead to chips or breaks in our teeth. Next time you ordered ice water, avoid chomping down on the ice, or skip the ice if you can.

If you have several fillings, there might be additional foods you should stay away from. Always ask your dentist if you are unsure.
